Pesticide-Free Koshihikari Rice — "Gorohei Rice"

Gorohei paddy field in Asashina Village
Gorohei paddy field, Asashina Village, Nagano

Ikeriri Farm is committed to safe, locally grown food. We cultivate "Gorohei Rice" (Koshihikari variety) in Asashina Village, Nagano, using zero pesticides and zero chemical fertilizers. When we purchased the farmland, we replaced approximately 150 tonnes of topsoil with uncontaminated soil from the foothills of Mt. Tateshina to remove residual pesticides and plastic sheeting from the previous owner. Two independent analyses by the JA Pesticide Analysis Center confirmed zero detection of all 127 pesticides currently registered in Japan.

Benefits of Pesticide-Free Cultivation

Our rice is ideal for people with atopic or allergic conditions, young children, and anyone who wants safe rice bran for pickling (nukazuke). The rice bran is free of pesticide residues.

What is "Semi-Natural" (半天然)?
The local fishing cooperative releases several tonnes of fingerlings into the Chikuma River each year. Released as juveniles, these fish grow up eating aquatic insects, mayflies, dragonflies, and small fish in the wild river — unlike fully farmed fish raised on artificial feed in crowded tanks. We believe the fish's metabolism replaces any trace substances within weeks of entering the river. Occasionally we catch fish with damaged gills (a sign of farming conditions) and release them.

Please allow approximately 2 weeks lead time from ordering. Specifying a delivery date 1 month in advance is appreciated. Species and size availability may vary by season and river conditions.
